Update vegan prisoner Renata Zelazna

Renata was arrested in April 2010 and since then she’s in custody on suspicion of attempted manslaughter. She is being held in prison Ter Peel in the southern part of the Netherlands. Renata is vegan and was an animal rights and feminist activist. She was studying in the Netherlands at the moment of arrest. During and after her arrest she was heavily mistreated by the police (Renata was pepper-sprayed, beaten and later denied food, drink and basic sanitary needs).

Meghalaya man travels 4,000 kilometres for his pet's cure

In an inspirational expression of love for his pet, a pet owner from Meghalaya has travelled to a Tamil Nadu Veterinary hospital, driving all the way in his private car to provide quality treatment to his ailing dog.

He covered about 4,000 kilometres to ensure special care to the ailing dog.

Whalers' wounds self-inflicted: Sea Shepherd

Anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd has accused the crew on board a Japanese whaling vessel of lying about the circumstances of a confrontation in the Antarctic.

Sea Shepherd has called for an apology from the Japanese Government, which claimed the activists attacked crew members aboard a Japanese whaling vessel by throwing rancid butter bombs at them.

But the captain aboard the Sea Shepherd vessel in the Antarctic, Paul Watson, says video footage shows the Japanese crew shot themselves in the face with capsicum spray.
